About Us

Empowering Women, Transforming Society

Who We Are

Founded to address the systemic injustices faced by women, girls, and vulnerable groups in Sierra Leone, the Center for Gender and Social Justice is more than just an organization—we are a movement. We are a collective of advocates, educators, legal experts, and community leaders who are passionate about making gender equality a reality.

Our work is rooted in the understanding that when women and girls are empowered, entire communities prosper. By addressing the root causes of gender inequality and gender-based violence, we aim to create lasting change that benefits generations to come.

Our Mission

Our mission is to champion gender justice, amplify women's rights, and foster a society where every woman and girl can participate fully, freely, and safely. Through advocacy, legal assistance, education, and economic empowerment, we aim to create an inclusive environment where gender equality is upheld, and social justice is accessible to all.

What We Stand For

Advocacy for Change

We advocate for policies and laws that protect women and girls, eliminate gender-based violence, and promote social justice. Our efforts aim to hold decision-makers accountable while empowering communities to demand and embrace equality.

Empowerment Through Action

Empowerment is at the heart of our mission. We provide survivors of gender-based violence and women facing discrimination with tailored support, including legal aid, counseling, and safe spaces. Through vocational training, leadership development, and economic opportunities, we help them rebuild their confidence, reclaim their rights, and achieve independence.

Support When It’s Needed Most

From survivors of gender-based violence to widows navigating legal challenges, we offer essential support services, including legal aid, counselling, and safe spaces.
We are there when it matters most, helping individuals rebuild their lives and restore their dignity.

Education for Transformation

We believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation.
Through workshops, training programs, and awareness campaigns, we inspire women, girls, and communities to challenge harmful norms and embrace equality.

Why We Exist

Gender inequality and social injustice continue to affect millions of women, girls, and marginalized groups across Sierra Leone. These systemic issues not only deny individuals their basic rights but also hold back entire communities from reaching their full potential. At the Center for Gender and Social Justice, we are committed to breaking this cycle by providing the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to create lasting change.

Advocate for gender justice, dedicated to ensuring that every woman and girl across Sierra Leone has equal opportunities to participate meaningfully in society.
